Hydroelectric Power Station Wicket Gate Control
We built this hydraulic power unit that will control a wicket gate at a local hydroelectric power station. This unit incorporates the necessary valving to control the wicket gate cylinder manually and autonomously. By manipulating the wicket gates, controlled water flow across the generator's turbine blades is achieved, allowing for electricity generation. The unit also incorporates the necessities for a power failure situation. If the stations power is to be lost, the valving will allow via an accumulator to automatically control movement of the wicket gate, again, dictating how much water will flow over the generator turbine blades.
